It is a vast and comprehensive approach to health and wellness which includes all aspects
of health such as diet, lifestyle, yoga, exercise, herbs, meditation, mantra, astrology and even surgery.
Ayurveda is very deep and can be filled with complex and philosophical terminology.
On the other hand, because Ayurveda is based on natural laws of the universe, it is filled with common sense, beauty
and can intuitively and easily be understood.
In this introductory class, Nimai will cover the most essential and natural principles of Ayurveda. Once understood, the more complex areas of Ayurveda will become clear. Ayurveda is an eternal system of wellness, in that it is appropriate for all times, places, and circumstances.
This class will tap into ones inner wisdom and will help you to see your body, mind, spirit, through the timeless lens of Ayurveda.
Specifically we will cover the four foundational principles of Ayurveda (which will explain the foundation of all natural health systems), the 4 goals of life, the cause of all disease, the 3 pillars of health and of course, the Doshas, or constitutional body types. It is very possible you will have a clear idea of your constitution by the end of the class.
An emphasis will be given to the Vata Dosha, which is very closely related to the nervous system, as we are in the fall season and typically, this is the Dosha that needs the most attention this time of year.
We will offer dietary, herbal, nutritional, lifestyle, and meditative practices that you can apply to your life right away. By applying these practices, we can approach late fall and winter with health and balance, avoiding the pitfalls that cause ill health and low moods during the winter season.
While Ayurveda is vast, this introductory class will offer a depth, clarity and understanding of Ayurveda that would be difficult to fully grasp by reading many books on Ayurveda. You will be able to apply what you learn in your life immediately. Be prepared for an expanded view of life, its purpose, your purpose, and how to maintain health along the way.
